At a press conference in Stuttgart, MP Udo Stein of the sovereignist Alternative “für Deutschland “ (AfD) party announced to take action against the anti-Russian sanction regime of the Berlin government. The speaker of the AfD youth organization “Junge Alternative” (JA) Markus Frohnmaier supported Stein. Frohnmaier is one of the strongest critics of the sanction politics.
The total value of trade between Germany and Russia decreased from almost 53 billion euros in 2014 to 41 billion euros in 2015, including an 18 billion euro decrease in German exports to Russia. That means: German business exports to Russia decreased by 25 percent in 2015 and business representatives expect the dry spell to continue.
The quality of products “Made in Baden-Württemberg” is confirmed by the high export rate: almost one in five machines sold internationally throughout the world come from Germany – most of them from Baden-Württemberg.
MP Udo Stein: “The sanctions have to be lifted. They turned out as useless and harmful for our German economy.”
Around 800 to 900 Baden-Württemberg companies are active in Russia, approximately 42.000 jobs in Baden-Württemberg depend on the business with Russia, as per Stein.
Markus Frohnmaier: “Baden-Württemberg is the powerhouse of Germany and we are producing products of excellent quality for the export market. The business with Russia should increase – and not decrease. That would be good for us and for Russia.”
